Everyone loves the Hungarian Dances of Brahms - either in the original piano version or as an orchestra piece. One of the most beloved dances – Number 5 – is now available in a version that can be played by either strings or winds alone, or as an ensemble. The wonderful rhythms capture the fancy of both the musicians and listeners and remain behind as a musical memory.
The strings play for the most part in the 1st position; only the 1st violin shifts occasionally into the 3rd. The viola can be replaced by 3rd violin. Up to eight winds can be accomodated: 2 flutes (or flute / oboe), 2 clarinets (or clarinet / trumpet), 2 alto saxophones or French horns – F voices for download, bassoon / trombone and tuba. Timpani can also play, and a piano score is included.
Instrumentation:
- string orchestra: Vl I, Vl II, Vl III / Va, Vc / Cb
- wind orchestra: C I / II, B-flat I / II, Es I / II, C-bass I / II
- symphonic orchestra: strings + winds + timpani
