Vivaldi's "speaking" music delights players and listeners again and again. Thanks to this arrangement essential parts of this popular piece of work can now be performed without a solo violin. Its part is simplified and integrated into the tutti. For each season, two movements have been chosen. This adds a seasonal flavour to any concert - even if played on their own.
Just like the original, the arrangement basically contains one independent string edition. The popular request to integrate wind instruments into this arrangement is met by four possible additional voices: C I and II (flute and oboe / 2nd flute), B-flat (clarinet) and C-bass (bassoon). The thorough-bass (basso continuo) is set off for easy playability for harpsichord or piano.
Our 40 orchestra members, mostly children and teenagers, have absorbed your editions with enthusiasm right from the beginning ... at present we really enjoy rehearsing The Four Seasons, because the students can handle the arrangement and it simply sounds good. |
