What the hymns of J. S. Bach are to advanced musicians, the popular christmas songs are to beginners: Getting attuned to christmas time. In this new arrangement the songs are set more simple yet, for both violins in the first and the second position, for the first violin partly only in the first position. Both violins play almost exclusively mono-rhythmic.
The second and the third voice can be played as simple accompaniment on the piano.
The first interplay in a small ensemble is an important step for a young musician and therefore always exciting. The more so, if the preparation of a christmas concert is in focus of this procedure - maybe even in combination with The Shepherds' Christmas.
The effortlessly playable sets are lacking all kitsch and persuade with their plain natural elegance. |
